the nimbus experience

The cornerstone of Nimbus Co is offering state-of-the-art full spectrum infrared saunas; we are pleased to welcome you to the first infrared sauna studio in Australia and our consciously-progressive contemporary spaces.

You are greeted in reception by our experienced staff before being led to your secluded room for your private sauna session. Let the woody scents of palo santo & softly diffused oils bring a sense of calm. Enjoy the complimentary refreshments on offer, either iced/hot tea and filtered water - a carafe is provided for you.

If it is your first session with Nimbus, we give you an in-depth introduction to the studio & how to use the sauna; please share any health concerns or focuses as we can tailor your session accordingly. First timer tips: stay hydrated pre and post sauna, limit personal care products. We welcome you to bring a +1 to your session (at an additional charge), we have larger saunas available to accommodate more spaciously.

We encourage you to find your own alignment; meditate, delve into our selected reading material, flow through a few gentle stretches or listen to podcasts & music by connecting to the in-built speakers in your sauna on your own device or by using the iPad provided. Reap the additional therapeutic benefits of the coloured LED lighting located in the ceiling of your sauna.

In our Byron Bay and Melbourne studios, we invite you to simply move across to the showers for your post-sauna rinse, providing you with Leif botanicals skincare. Our Bondi studio offers either in-room shower facilities or a separate shower/bathroom.

The saunas themselves are naturally anti-microbial, cleaned & prepped for each session.

Step in and welcome your wellbeing.

A traditional sauna uses convection and conduction to heat the surface of your skin. Infrared saunas, however, use infrared heating panels that emit light helping your body to detoxify, giving users a deeper cleansing experience. The infrared light can't be seen by the naked eye but it gives off what's called radiated heat, penetrating deep within your tissues, muscles and cells.Unlike traditional saunas, the air in an infrared sauna is a lot drier making it easier to breathe. This form of slow heating makes infrared saunas a much more comfortable experience than a traditional one.

These deeply therapeutic saunas were developed in the 70's in Japan and have been continuously refined since. Here at Nimbus & Co, we offer state-of-the-art full spectrum cedar wood Clearlight saunas from their Sanctuary range, providing tranquil spaces to frequent in support of chronic conditions to mild health concerns, detoxification, immunity + skin health.

Sweating is the body's natural process to remove toxins and nasty chemicals from the body. Infrared rays gently heat the body, increasing the core temperate and creating a deep reaction from within your body's cells to assist the detoxification process.

A number of studies have shown that you can burn up to 700 calories per session. As your body attempts to cool itself down, it also increases your heart and metabolic rate making you burn more calories.

Near infrared has been shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in your skin. Sweating improves blood circulation as well as skin elasticity, tone, texture and firmness - it also helps unblock pores and reduce blemishes. A weekly infrared sauna session will leave you glowing and the more you sweat the better you'll feel.

You need to be kind to your skin, after all, you will be living in it for your entire life. Regular sweating allows your body to detoxify nasty chemicals, pollutants and dirt lodged within the dermal layer. Studies have shown that the average person is exposed to 700,000 toxins a day, scary right?

Infrared heat increases the blood flow and brings essential nutrients to the surface of the skin - allowing your body to naturally glow. Regular infrared sauna sessions have also been shown to improve skin conditions such as cellulite, acne, psoriasis and dermatitis. Get glowing people!

When you use a sauna it increases the core temperature of your body. Bacteria and viruses can't survive under certain temperatures and this increased heating helps your body fight these off, giving your immune system that added boost.

If you’re suffering with aches and pains, an infrared sauna is a great way for you to deal with these. Infrared saunas increase circulation, which encourages healing blood flow to trouble areas.

sTRESS Reduction & Sleeping

One of the biggest benefits of an infrared sauna is relaxation and the chance to de-stress. People today live busy lives and we are now under more daily stress than ever before. An infrared sauna session can not only help you unwind but it also decreases the production of cortisol, the main hormone for stress in the body. If you've had a rough day there's no better place to be than an infrared sauna, plus it will help you sleep a little better.

Infrared saunas that integrate chromotherapy or light therapy (like ours!) have also been shown to potentially support symptoms of seasonal depression. The therapeutic applications of light and colour are being investigated in major hospitals and research centres worldwide.

traditional sauna vs. infrared sauna

Infrared saunas penetrate deep within your body at a cellular level, while traditional saunas only heat the air around you.

Infrared saunas use dry heat, whereas traditional saunas use humid heat resulting in poor air quality, which can be unbearable at times.

Traditional saunas dehydrate you more than an infrared sauna and remove more water but less toxins.

Traditional saunas only remove about 3% of toxins in your body, whereas an infrared sauna can remove up to 20% of toxins from your body.
