I feel as though my hormonal health is suffering from adrenal stress, how can I most effectively balance my adrenal glands?

When your body is under prolonged physical or emotional stress, your adrenals work overtime producing excess stress hormones. This can wreak havoc in your body and affect the balance of other hormones.

Here are a few key areas to address for adrenal health:

  • Aim for 8 hours of sleep each night.

  • Cut down on caffeine – stick to just one small coffee or black tea a day and steer clear of energy drinks.

  • Increase your fibre and reduce refined sugars to help balance blood sugar.

  • Exercise in a variety of ways – cardio, strength training and stretching are all important.

  • Start meditating – even if it’s just 5 minutes a day.

  • Do something every day that lights you up – having fun is actually great for your health!

  • There are specific nutrients that may help restore balance including vitamin C, a B complex and magnesium.

I recommend you work with a nutritionist or naturopath to help identify nutritional deficiencies and discuss strategies to rebalance your hormones and reduce your stress.
